The term “NRE,” or “New Relationship Energy,” refers to the period in which two individuals are relatively infatuated with each other as a result of the novelty and “newness” of the relationship. This period does not last forever, and care should be taken to prepare for things “settling down” at some point, as the relationship evolves. You might also call this a “honeymoon period.”
